5 Steps to a Performance Evaluation System

Staff evaluations are something future administrators must complete, whether it be a classified or certificated evaluation. As future administrators, we need to make sure all evaluations are fair, consistent and support CSTPs. In terms of the evaluation process, does informal feedback really help? What should be done if teachers or staff, feel like they are being picked on or singled out? It's something that is part of the position, but if highly qualified and effective teachers are a need, how often should this be done? What types of things are you looking for in your staff? Is what you are looking for, equitable and fair?
The article written by Capko (2003) "5 Steps to a Performance Evaluation System" sums it up very well! "Performance Evaluations are essential to developing a powerful work team" (Capko, 2003, p43).
